Grandparents Raising Children

What a challenging endeavor.  Our Grandparents raising their Grandchildren.  The world has changed in many respects, and the challenges in raising children haven't become any easier.  However, there are certain absolutes just as there were when you were raising your children.  Below I'll elaborate on a few.

  Setting Boundaries and Expectations

Grandparents raising children will have their own set of rules that must be followed within the home. The kids may see these rules as harsh, but these are the rules that they know. You may set certain guidelines for such things as internet use, TV watching, and video game playing, which are things that you didn't have to contend with when growing up or raising your own children. Nevertheless, setting rules is very important so that the kids know what to get by with and what not to get by with.

Grandparents remember, the times have changed since you raised your children, but your Grandchildren need the same basic value systems as years ago.  What's Right Is Still Right  despite what the so called experts will tell you.  Stick to your guns, you will gain their respect eventually.  Temptations are packaged differently at times,  and values are simply challenged in different ways today.

Simply understanding and recognizing the differences is the Key.  With that said, let us assist you in exploring those differences to make the process a little easier, and assist you in knowing you are succeeding.

To assist you, please subscribe to our FREE Weekly Newsletter, entitled, What's Right Is Still Right. To subscribe, Simply  click here   To get the jest of what's discussed, and how, below is a brief discription.

We are a product of our teaching.  We emerge as a result of what we are taught.  From conscience to convictions, it's a matter of teaching.  I come from an era different from that of your children, but both represent values, or lack of values that we need to constantly review.  So sit back and ponder some of the views of the past. Compare the way I had them to the way they have them now with Krista's assistance.  She represents the conduit from past to present.

May we be able in time to advance our lives in ways that are good, without forgetting values that are right.  By the way, for those of you who will read this newsletter with a comic pity toward me, keep it around until your life strikes 50 years-then read it again.  Hindsight is better than Foresight by a Long Site.  To subscribe
